Welcome to my Website

Welcome book lovers! Welcome music enthusiasts! Welcome to all!

After 40 years in the corporate world, writing in hotel rooms and on vacation, I’m stepping out from behind my metal Steelcase and particle board O’Sullivan desks to a writer’s desk. In the interest of full disclosure, it’s not the wooden rolltop desk that I picture Ernest Hemingway sitting at, but a Costco stand up desk that I plopped in front of our living room window!

I am the writer of two novels and a biography, as well as the co-author of a Christian self-help book. Because I grew up there, most of my books are set in the Buffalo, NY area. But I do not consider myself a “regional” writer. Every story needs a setting, and Buffalo is one that I know well. But the underlying stories will resonate with you, wherever you are located. As I say in my most recent book, Rock the Hard Way:

“Buffalo is filled with people who know that what they want must be earned because it will not be given to them. Who understand that sometimes they still might not get what they earned.”

As they might say across the Peace Bridge: sounds like people you can build a story around, eh?

I want this website to serve a few different purposes.

  • As with all good ex-corporate types, I want to sell product. Please take a look at the books I have already published. The website provides a link to Amazon to purchase anything that catches your eye.

  • I’m also a huge music fan. Each of my books was created as both a literary and a musical experience. As I write, I always have a soundtrack playing in my head (and usually on my stereo). For each book, I have listed the songs that inspired certain chapters or scenes, and created a corresponding Spotify playlist. These playlists are available on this website for your listening pleasure (an experience best enjoyed while reading the book you purchased as a result of reading the paragraph above!).

  • I would like to build a community of music lovers. I’m calling this community the Crate Diggers, calling out those of you who love spending time going through the racks of record stores (there are still some great ones out there) looking for hidden treasures to round out your collection. I want to hear from you. What is your most recent purchase? Your greatest find? What are you still missing?

  • Finally, I’m going to post a weekly blog. It might be some samples of my writing, poems, album reviews, book reviews, or whatever else is on my mind. I’ll announce new projects as they are realized. And who knows what else.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you, my digital friend. Take a moment to drop me a line in the contact section. I’ll try to get back to each of you as soon as I am able to.

And in the meantime, here is a link to something from the first ever album I purchased, Genesis Seconds Out. I bought this album because its cover caught my eye, the stark black foreground with the band in the white spotlight. A guitar with two necks! And then, on the back, a song clocking in at more than 24 minutes! I had to get it. This is the album that got me hooked on what music could be. Enjoy.

Not getting the full 24 minutes? Listen directly on Spotify.
